I also visited the 2nd Congregational Church in Palmer when I reached the town.

After reaching the restaurant, a family style sort of restaurant, I decided to get the Chicken Fingers coated with Sweet Chilli Sauce, the Tortellini Soup, and the Veal Marsala (Veal strips and mushrooms cooked in marsala wine, topped with grated parmesan cheese).

The Tortellini soup was not too bad, and this is one of the few times that I actually liked the chicken fingers, being really crispy and flavorful with the sauce. The pasta, however, was just all wrong. The veal was less than cooked and tasted funky, being a little sour, but hopefully it was just the sauce. Anyway, the pasta kinda ruined my appetite, and I took the leftovers home for the day. Unfortunately, I have to say this is not a place I will come back to in future.

April 2nd 2013: Dinner at Union Oyster House, Boston

Tonight after work, I had a meetup dinner at Union Oyster House, a seafood place in Boston and the oldest restaurant in town, but before that I decided to get some food from the Real Deal, a deli that looks like a typical fast food place, in the West Roxbury area, for the guys working late on the food truck tonight.

After looking at the menu, I decided to get several paninis and a burger, namely the Colombian (Slow roasted pulled pork, sliced ham, provolone, krinkle-cut dill pickle chips, and chipotle mayonnaise), the Enforcer (Smoked turkey, bacon, sliced tomato, cheddar cheese and Kickin' Bayou sauce), the Italiano (Thin sliced prosciutto, genoa salami, provolone, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and pesto mayonnaise), and the Wolf Man Burger (1/2 lb.burger topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, over medium egg, chipotle mayonnaise and pickles).

The egg was an interesting touch to the burger, and the pulled pork in the Colombian was pretty good too. The rest were just average.

After passing the food to my friends on the truck, I headed to the Oyster House, passing by the Theodore Parker Church along the way.

The restaurant has many different rooms, and my group was in the top most floor of the place, which looks pretty bar-like overall, with lobsters in tanks in in the lobby area. There was especially large lobster, but my friend told me the meat was better on the younger, smaller ones, being less tough.

My friends and I decided to share our food, getting the Crock of Oyster Stew, the Seafood Newburg (lobster meat, tender shrimp and scallops in a creamy sherry sauce, served on a baked pastry shell with rice pilaf) and the Hot Oyster House Sampler (Union Grilled Oysters, Baked Stuffed Cherrystones, Clams Casino, Oysters Rockefeller, Shrimp Scampi).

Crock of Oyster Stew
To be honest I was really disappointed with not one, but all the dishes we got today, and the high price we had to pay for the dinner just made it even worse. The Oyster stew was extremely bland, the oysters themselves not being very good, and the Seafood Newburg was average or below. The sampler was nothing to write home about either. I'm definitely never coming back here again. What a disappointment the oldest restaurant in town was.

April 1st 2013: Lunch at Sweet Caroline's, Boston

In the midst of passing out flyers about our food truck today at various places like Boston University
and the Financial District, I decided to grab some lunch at Sweet Caroline's, a bar restaurant in the Fenway Park area. The place had just opened when I arrived, so it was pretty much empty except for me.
Getting down to using my $40, I decided to get the Caroline’s Skillet Nachos (House made tortilla chips with a hint of lime, melted cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, fresh guacamole) for the appetizer, the Roasted All Natural Berkshire Pork Chop (Butternut Squash Puree, trumpet mushrooms, roasted apple, orange-Calabrian chile vinaigrette) for my entree, and the Fresh Baked Cookie Dough Pie (Large, baked to order cookie, Richardson’s vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate sauce) for my dessert.

My chips were pretty typical, while my pork was tender and juicy, going well with the roasted apple and mushrooms below it. The dessert was pretty good as well.

Overall, pretty typical food, but not too bad for a sports bar restaurant.

With that, I headed back out and passed out flyers for the rest of the day, passing by a few places along the way, including the Big Apple Circus tent on the City Hall Plaza, which is here in town for only a few more days.

I have to say, it is hard to keep a smile on my face with the constant rejections from passers-by, but there were always people interested to know what our food truck was about. Thankfully, our truck did pretty well on our first day, at least in my opinion. Hope tomorrow will be as good as well.
