Today after work, I
headed into Boston to have an all you can eat sushi dinner at Yamato in the Brighton area of Boston. After picking my friends up, we headed to the place, which did not have much parking, and I had to go find parking elsewhere, which thankfully wasn't too far away. The place itself is pretty small, and decor is pretty simplistic too for Japanese restaurant standards. I wasn't impressed with the food either, although we ordered a lot, ranging from the Crispy Crab (crab rangoons), the Seaweed Salad, the Miso Soup the Eel Zucchini Tempura, a lot of different sorts of sashimi, the Summer Roll (Spicy tuna, tempura crunches and tobiko wrap with Vietnamese spring roll wrap), the Agedashi Tofu, the Volcano Roll (Spicy tuna maki topped with a torched scallop tobiko scallion crab meat and mushroom mixture), the Green Tea Ice Cream, the Fried Ice Cream and the Fried Banana. |

Everything fried was just covered in a layer of tempura, while the sushi rolls did not have much effort put into them. Even the dessert was just so-so. Overall, I have to say even
Maki Maki in Woburn beats this place.
That was not the end of the night though. Another friend of mine was leaving for New York, so we decided to have a fare
well dinner at Bonchon in the same area. This time, we got the Spicy Japchae, the Crispy Salmon Salad (Ball of avocado salad and tempura flakes wrapped in seared salmon and drizzled with spicy mayo, eel sauce, and ikura), the Rice Cake Skewers (Fried rice cake on skewers, brushed with a sweet hot sauce), the Cotija Corn (Corn-on-the-cob brushed with mayonnaise and rolled in cotija cheese and house-roasted ground chili peppers), the Seafood Scallion Pancake (Korean style pancake with shrimp, squid, and scallions served with sesame soy sauce), and not forgetting a set of crispy wings of course. |

As I was already full from my buffet, I ate only a little of everything. The pancake was just so-so, while the corn did not have much flavor if not for the spices sprinkled on top. The salad was pretty interesting though, and the rice cake was not too bad.
Another day, another late night out with friends. Boy do I need a break.
